An AP course in economics prepares students to pass the Advanced Placement Economics test in May. This course gives students a thorough understanding of the principles of economics that apply to the individual decision makers, both consumers and producers, within the larger economic system. It places primary emphasis on supply and demand theories, and how they influence the prices of goods and services, resources, interest rates, rents and wage levels. Students will gain an in-depth understanding of the different types of competitive markets and how decisions are made in each type. The role government plays in regulating and promoting economic efficiency, equity and economic goals is analyzed in great depth. This course is suited for students who excel in their studies (other AP or Honors courses) and are continuing their education at the collegiate level.
